NICKY LODGE & FACILITIES We want to offer the finest exploration in the Rainforest with the Nicky Amazon Lodge. The lodge is located on the Cuyabeno River (lower part of the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve), with 7 cabins built in the traditional Indian style of the jungle. Each hut has 2 rooms that can be single, double and triple accommodation, twins, or matrimonial beds with mosquito nets to keep you safe from biting insects. All rooms have private bathrooms with showers. Each cabin has an area where you will be able to relax in the hammocks or sit to observe different species of birds and monkeys. Sit outside of your room and listen to the nocturnal and early morning songs of the Amazon. In the main cabin you can try delicious meals at the dinning room area, take soft and strong drinks in a traditional bar, read some interesting books, or just rest in the hammocks overlooking a small lake. We provide daily nutritious meals during the trip and cater to vegetarians. Purified drinking water and soft drinks such as: coffee, hot chocolate or tea is available all day. Electricity is provided by solar panels for lighting and for recharging batteries 110 AC. We provide rubber boots and life jackets at the lodge. Important information TRAVEL DOCUMENTS – When you travel into the Amazon Region you don’t forget to bring your passport. THE RAINFOREST – The area that we visit has a very marked dry season starting from December until March. The temperature in the Amazon rainforest is stable most of the year and typically ranges from 25 Centidegrees to 28 Centidegrees during the day. At night, temperatures can drop to 15 Centidegrees. HEALTH ADVICE – Precaution against Malaria is recommended specially for the adventures and long tours. Before departure visit your doctor to get the most up to date health information. Doesn’t sleep with the mosquito net open or in an accommodation that allows entry of mosquitoes. Always close your tent. If you wear glasses or contacts, bring an extra pair. If you have significant allergies or chronic medical problems, wear a medical alert bracelet. GROUP SIZE – We realize the extreme importance of small groups, not only because we want to ensure our visitors experience the jungle and all its splendor without being overcrowded, but also to reduce our impact on the unique ecosystems. TRAVEL WITH CHILDREN – There is no restriction for the age, but we recommend that children be over five years. For the expeditions with children we suggest you schedule private tours because it will be more comfortable and enjoyable. They will definitely get more out of the Amazon Rainforest experience with us because our guides are very careful and knowledgable about this location. During the activities, don’t forget the jungle trails are hard to rate for everyone. The difficult level of each excursion depends on terrain and weather conditions and the fitness of the passenger. Frequently asked questions (FAQ) “When is the best time to go to the Amazon?” To visit the Amazon Rainforest, you can do it any time of the year: We have dry season from December to February, and because of that, the Cuyabeno River ( Our main River for navigation ) decreases in level of water. From 3 to 5 meters deep decreases to 1 meter deep. It is a variable occurrence, so there is no guarantee. “Do I have electricity for charging batteries at Nicky Amazon Lodge?” We have electricity provided by solar panels and by a generator which is on from 18:00 p.m. until 22:00 p.m. “How bad are insects during my stay at Nicky Amazon Lodge?” We recommend to take some deet for the night and day walks, and to the Laguna Grande in the afternoon. When you are on the bus/pick up, canoe, lodge it is not necessary to use it. “What vaccinations are required?” Precaution against yellow fever is recommended especially for the adventures and long tours.
